WEATHER                            BRIGHT AND SUNNY

START / FINISH               CAR PARK AT BOWLEES

Todayís Walk was the first walk that my better half Yvonne was going to accompany this year (she doesnít do cold or wet) but being out the night before at a party then finding out that they have put the clocks forward mean that nearly half the day was gone before we even set off . So I decided that a small pleasant walk along the river tees would have to do, we couldnít have picked a better day, a very pleasant bright sunny day made us soon forget about any bad heads that we might have had, the only problem was that just about everyone and there dog had the same idea, I have never seen the river bank so packed.

So it was a case of parking up in the free car park at bowless , we were hoping that the visitors centre would be open so we could throw more tea and coffee down our throats before we set off , but for some strange reason it is still closed , perhaps itís still too early in the season for it to open , or perhaps it been closed as cost cutting measures , I dare say that I will find out over the next few weeks , I really hope that itís just too early in the season for it to be open as we normally enjoy a cuppa both before and after our trips down here .

Anyway the walk , park up , cross the road and follow the path to the river , have a mooch around low force then a river side walk along the Pennine way up to high force , again stop for drinks / food then walk back .

One thing that caught our eye straight away was how low the river was , we have been coming down here for more years than I care to remember both in the summer and the winter but have never seen it so low , perhaps they are cutting down the amount of water that they bleed out cow green reservoir , again who knows , any way we only walked about four miles give or take a few feet but it was a great walk in great conditions , sometime I forget  just how lucky we are to have places like this .

As per normal a few photos..Enjoy
