DISTANCE                            ABOUT 7 .7 MILES

WEATHER                            GREY AND MISTY

START / FINISH               OFF ROAD PARKING JUST PAST HETHPOOL

Todayís walk was going to be yet another trial with my arty leg; the foot had finally given up the fight and the bit which absorbed and shock loading I.e. springy bit had died so each time I put my foot down the shock loading was transmitted straight to my arse bone, which means nothing to most people but to an amputee it means bad news. The last thing I wanted is to end up having a bruise on my bum as it takes ages to clear up. So for the walk I decided on would have to have lots of nice soft grass or boggy terrain so the ground absorbed some of the shock loading. Add to that the cylinder on my knee was still waiting a replacement it was going to be a fun packed day.

So taking all this into consideration I decided to head up to Hethpool and do a section of the hills that I hadnít done before , well thatís not exactly true but there are some hills up that way that I havenít explored so that was it .

My route was to park the car up on the roadside between Elsdon & Hethpool head up towards the farm at Trowupburn then wide open madam law (just because I havenít been up there before) to stob rig where I briefly join the Pennine Way to Eccles Cairn, Coldsmouth hill, Ring Chesters, Hadden Hill, down to BetsyĒs Cairn then back down to Elsdon burn and a walk back to the car.

Apart from the first bit and the last bit it was all on soft grass or soft boggy ground so my arse didnít hurt too much and on a closer inspection (later that night) everything was ok no bruise or anything.

The only down side was the weather, grey and misty, you know where you canít capture anything with the camera and any good views are ruined.

Anyway a few photos enjoy.
